One person has been confirmed dead at Ololoipangi in Narok South sub-county following tribal clashes between two communities

Five other people are nursing serious wounds with one having been transferred to the Kenyatta National Hospital.

Warring people set five houses ablaze on Saturday night when the clashes intensified.

The security team led by Narok County Commissioner Samuel Kimiti had a hard time calming down the two warring sides as they engaged in a fight using illegal guns, bows and arrows.

According to locals, the fight started when a thief stole his father's cow and sold it to a trader who was later discovered.

Mr. Kimiti has since threatened to engage the General Service Unit if the two communities fail to bury the hatchet.

The administrator also ordered members of the two communities to surrender all their illegal weapons, bows, and arrows.

The commissioner insisted that the government will not relent in its efforts to restore peace in the region warning residents that they would be dealt with by security officers adding that a curfew might be placed.

Narok South MP Lemien Korei and Olunga Ward MCA Jefferson Langat have since urged the two communities to end hostilities and co-exist in peace.

Langat urged the security team in Narok to conduct a peaceful disarmament exercise.
