Winam Law Court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for defiling his three-year-old daughter.
The court's principal magistrate, Chrispine Oruo, noted that there was sufficient evidence to prove that the accused, John Ondera, committed the distasteful act.
"The prosecution, led by Mwende Kavindu presented 6 witnesses & proved the case against the accused person," a statement from the Office of The Director Of Public Prosecutions reads in part.
While delivering his judgement, the magistrate stated that he relied on certain factors to sentence the accused person including the offender's relationship with the victim, the victim's age, and the medical report from the doctor.

Similarly, a middle-aged man was sentenced to serve life in prison after defiling a 5-year-old girl.
The accused was handed the sentence after the prosecution led by Vera Abongo proved he committed the offence of defilement contrary to Section 8(1)(2) of the sexual Offences Act No. 3 of 2006.
“The accused had also been charged with an alternative count of committing an indecent act with a child contrary to Section 11(1) of the sexual Offences Act No 3 of 2006," a statement by the ODPP read in parts.
Elsewhere, an Eldoret court handed a man a 15-year jail term for sodomizing a 15-year-old child.
The court heard that the accused, John Wamwanji, aged 36, intoxicated his victim before sodomizing him.
“The prosecution called 4 witnesses in the matter. It is alleged that the accused intoxicated the victim by giving him alcohol & then sodomized him," the DPP said.
