Detectives are investigating a murder incident which occurred in Kitengela on Friday, April 21 2023, where a 25-year-old man stabbed to death a 22-year-old female colleague.

In the 8:30 pm incident, the suspect stabbed the female colleague at a famous fast-food chain in Kitengela as customers watched.

The eatery where the incident happened has Pizza Inn, Chicken Inn and Creamy Inn but is generally referred to as Pizza Inn by locals perhaps due to it's signature location. The exact location where the body of the woman lay at the time of the incident was Chicken Inn.

The suspect, who is currently recuperating at Kitengela sub-county hospital after being cornered and bitten by a mob, is said to have walked into the eatery where he also works, while he was off duty, and attacked the female colleague who was serving customers.

According to other colleagues' accounts, the suspect was hitting on the deceased who expressed no interest in being in a relationship with him.

Confirming the incident, Kajiado County commander Muthure Mwongera condemned the unfortunate murder of the woman, warning that the suspect will face the wrath of the law.

Mwongera said the suspect will be charged with murder.

"It is so heartbreaking to lose such a young soul courtesy of a furious colleague. We have commenced investigations into the unfortunate incident to ensure justice prevails," Mwongera said.

The police commander instead urged youths and couples to focus on mutually resolving disputes instead of resorting to murder.

"The law is a double-aged sword, it is not about your feelings. No feelings and emotions justify killing someone. The law provides avenues of resolving issues mutually," he added.

The suspect is currently under the watch of detectives while at the hospital.

The body of the deceased has since been moved to the Kenyatta University morgue.

In the meantime, the eatery remains closed and marked as a scene of a crime.
