KCSE candidates arrested over relief food theft in Marsabit

Police in Marsabit have arrested three suspects, among them two (KCSE) candidates, in connection with a relief food theft incident at the Mountain location chief's office in Marsabit Central Sub-County last month.

Area Deputy County Commissioner David Saruni told KNA over phone that the suspects who included two Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates from two local secondary schools and a form four leaver were arrested Friday afternoon.

The consignment meant for famine-stricken families comprising 12 bags of rice, 3 bags of beans and 31 packets of fortified porridge flour (unimix) was recovered but the suspects went into hiding.

The suspects, who have been in hiding since February 23 were nabbed following a tip-off to the Wabera sub-location assistant chief.

The administrator pounced on the two students soon after they arrived home from their examination centres then went for the third suspect identified as Abdi Dabasso Sora.

Saruni said the suspects were booked at the Marsabit Police Station before being released on bond.
