"The fire is spreading quite fast. We're trying to put it out using all means including use of water and sand," James Mugo, a resident of Kairi said on phone.

By the time of going to press, fire brigadiers from Kiambu County had not arrived at the scene to help in rescue mission.

However, Kiambu County fire officer Samuel Kahura revealed that a fire fighting machinery had been displaced to the area to help in the rescue mission.

"We are doing everything we can to stop further spread of the fire. We cannot at this moment tell what caused the fore but I can confirm that one of the dormitories has burnt completely and nothing from it was salvaged," he said on phone.
