Two hospital bosses and two lab technicians were on Thursday charged in a Nairobi court with two counts of stocking unvalidated and expire laboratory reagents.

Those charged were Langata Hospital Director, Dr. Ashoke Singh Matharu, Operations Manager Muffdal Ammar Hassamjee and lab technicians Herbert Cheruiyot Charles and Beatrice Awino Ayoga.

The prosecutor told the court that the four suspects where found stocking at least 10 expired chemical reagents on July 8, 2020, at the hospital on Langata Road.

The suspects denied the charges and were released on a cash bail of Ksh100,000 for the director and operations manager while the lab technicians were freed on Ksh50,000 each.

However, following pleas from their lawyer Mark Omuga, the court ordered the practicing certificates for the release within seven days of the practicing certificates of the two lab technicians that had been seized.
