South Gem Ward representative David Audi has accused his political opponents of being behind the fire that destroyed his car on Sunday, July 17, 2022.

The vehicle, a Toyota Probox bearing registration number KBS 670F, was set ablaze by unknown persons last night.

“My Probox, registration number KBS 670F, was very instrumental in my campaigns because it’s the car that I had dedicated to the society for emergency cases and funerals,” Audi said.

The Siaya Member of County Assembly alleges that the assailants were after his life and only set the car ablaze after failing to find him.

At the time of the incident, the MCA said, he had stepped out to visit his cousin at Siala Kaduol, a stone throw away from his home, when he learnt from his brother that his car had been torched.

He reported the matter to the police and investigations are underway.

Earlier, police said no arrests have been made so far.

"We received a report from workers at the home saying unknown arsonists stormed the compound and executed the heinous act. The MCA was away at the time of the incident. No one was injured during the incident," Gem Sub-County Police Commander Charles Chacha said.

Audi has served South Gem ward residents since 2017.
