The 2020 KCPE exam candidates will join Form One in July 2021, the Principal Secretary in charge of Early Learning and Basic Education Dr. Julius Jwan has announced.

The Ministry of Education is yet to settle on the exact week in July for Form One admissions.

Dr. Jwan made the announcement on Wednesday, March 24, while presiding over the supervision of exams at the Harambee Khalsa Primary School in Nakuru Town.

Today (Wednesday, March 24) marks the last day when nearly 1.2 million candidates sat the 2020 national tests.

The PS, in his address, warned secondary school principals against hiking school fees without seeking approval from the Ministry of Education.

On pregnant teenagers, who wrote their exams this year, Dr. Jwan urged Kenyans to be sensitive when calling for government action.

He said the children are already depressed, and, therefore, “forcing them to name those who impregnated them will be contributing to their mental anguish”.

The PS’s remarks come a day after a KCPE candidate in Nyandarua died shortly after giving birth when exams were ongoing.
