Five reportedly dead, six in c******l condition after grisly accident in Lari

Five people are reported to have lost their lives while six others continue to receive treatment at Kijabe Mission Hospital in critical condition, after a tragic accident took place in Nyambari area, Lari sub-county, on the Nairobi - Nakuru highway this morning. The accident involved more than three vehicles; a lorry and two 14-seater matatus.

The accident was confirmed by Lari Police boss Stephen Kirui, who said the traffic department had launched an investigation to establish the truth, while also warning drivers to be vigilant due to bad weather.

"I have confirmed with the hospital that so far five have succumbed to injuries and six are in a critical condition", Lari OCPD Stephen Kirui confirmed.

"I am urging all motorists to be extra careful while using this road during this season because the weather is not really good," he added.

A similar statement was echoed by some residents who say that a permanent solution would be achieved by drivers’ effort to be more careful on the road.

Residents have also urged the government through KENHA to remove the passenger stage that has been lit in the area as it causes a lot of damage putting mores endangered.

Three of the people who succumbed to injuries are men while two are women. Of the survivors in hospital, five are adults while one is a child.

In a separate location Two other people were reported to have died instantly on the Nairobi-Maiu road after a lorry hit a bodaboda rider and his passage as confirmed by Limuru sub-county Traffic Department.
