Police officers in Kitui are looking for a woman who dumped a fetus in a rubbish dump in the Resort area, near Kitui town.

Confirming the incident, Kyanika area assistant chief William Kitili said that the fetus had already been eaten up halfway by dogs.

Kitili issued a warning to anyone involving themselves in such actions noting that they will pursue the person involved with the incident and make sure she is arrested and arraigned in court.

"We have found remains of a fetus eaten on one side by dogs here in the resort. I am issuing a stern warning to those doing abortions and throwing bodies in rubbish pits because it is a crime. We are going to make sure she is arrested" the administrator said.

The fetus was discovered by a boda boda rider who was going on with his work and raised alarm to their chairman who then alerted the authorities.

Speaking after the incident, the boda boda chairman resort area Adrenico Musembi noted that, this is the second incident where they have found a fetus thrown in the same sub-location.

Musembi said two months ago, they found two fetuses thrown on the other side of Silei Silei raising concern about who might be involved in the heinous acts.

"Two months ago we found two fetuses thrown in the other side of Silei Silei and we suspect a medical officer might be involved with doing abortions throwing the bodies in the pits," Musembi said

He also urged ladies in Kitui to avoid engaging in such acts and instead look for alternatives when they get pregnant and almost due to deliver.

Police from Kitui station picked up the remains of the fetus and took it to Kitui level 5 hospital mortuary for autopsy as the search for the mother continues.
