Artiste Bensoul has slammed Sauti Sol fans who raised complaints about the price of the Sol Fest VIP tickets.

The fans had taken to different social media pages to complain that the prices for the VIP tickets were 'exorbitant' and urged Sauti Sol to reconsider.

But in a post shared via his official X account (formerly Twitter), the 'Nairobi' hitmaker chewed out the critics noting that anyone unable to afford the amount quoted by the boy band by November has a 'long way to go'.

He also assured fans that the tickets are going to sell out regardless of the criticism meted on the group.

"Kama 20k ya kuona Sauti Sol inakushinda by November, you have a long way to go. Wacha wenye pesa waende. One thing I know for sure is we are going to sell out," he wrote.

The musician's sentiments seemed to irk a section of X users who called out the artiste.

Quarters expressed their distaste in the singer's remarks urging him to 'be humble'. Others were quick to correct the artiste to be considerate of others and accused the singer of 'poverty-shaming' them.

A section, however, agreed with the artiste and vouched for the boy band claiming that their performance was worth the price quoted.

Below are some of the comments:

One user identified as Jessy Kigen wrote: "Coming to think about it, sauti sol have some mileage in the industry. They are allowed to put any prize tag on their concert. Let their hard work pay. I believe people will pay 20k, might not have great turn out but for sure with 20k, a great show is awaiting. Once again it’s their show not yours.(SIC)"

Austin Tunoi wrote: "Wah. I pitty Sauti Sol supporters. You know we are a third world country with over 60% of citizens below poverty but you still had to trash them. Most people support your music through streams but can't afford such an amount. Mimi sina neno."

The tickets to attend the Sol Fest event scheduled for November 2, 2023, are going for Ksh20,000 for VIP and Ksh6,500 for regular.
