Labour Day celebrations in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County failed to kick off following a low turn-up.

It is reported that only two people showed up for the fete paving way for a blame game as officials accused each other over the flop.

The two who were in attendance include Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) North Rift representative Peter Odima and his deputy Rodgers Ombati.

The pair accused Uasin Gishu County leadership of sabotaging the event saying they failed to provide chairs and tents for the event as usual, leading to an eventual cancellation.

“We were ready to have a successful event. The President’s speech was even sent from Nairobi. Now we will give it to the governor on Tuesday,” Odima is reported to have said.

In Nairobi, the fete was held at Uhuru Gardens.
