The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday in a Nairobi court presented 14 photos and a video of nude underage children who had been sexually abused by a 64-year-old private university lecturer.

Officer Wyliffe Jefwa attached at DCI headquarters Children Rights unit produced in court the photographic evidence against Joseph William Black JR, a St Paul's University lecturer.

Jefwa told Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Robinson Ondieki that he arrested William at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) as he attempted to flee the country.

The officer told the court that William was circulating the pornographic images of the 14 children aged between 3 and 15 on his Skype and Microsoft accounts against their will.

According to the officer, the pornographic images and a video of unknown Caucasian children were retrieved from his laptop.

The court heard that the lecturer was arrested after an intelligence report over his involvement in circulating pornographic images and video on October 20, 2020, and August 20, 2021, at Bishop Makarios Seminary Riruta satellite in Nairobi.

"We took action following intelligence report our office received that one USA citizen who resides in Kenya was involved in child pornography back in his US home," the magistrate held.

Jefwa informed the court that the said pornographic materials were recovered from the lecturer at Bishop Makarios Seminary Riruta satellite where he used to reside.

"However during the time of the search, Joseph William Black was located in Kenya where he resides in a seminary and it was suspected that he would be abusing other boys" the court added.

The officer also revealed that William is a wanted man in the US and is scheduled to face similar charges of pornography and cybercrime.
