How to check secondary school placement results for 2023 KCPE candidates

Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu has officially released secondary school placement results for the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary School Education (KCPE) exam.

The Form One selection results were unveiled on Monday, December 18, nearly a month after the release of the 2023 KCPE exam results.

Machogu, while announcing the placement results, said some 1,400,329 students out of the 1,406, 557 who took the KCPE examination managed to secure spots in various high schools across the country.

Some 42,927 students have been placed in national schools across the country. The top achievers include 22,051 boys and 20,876 girls.

Similarly, some 274,746 students will join extra county schools out of which 141,590 are boys and 133,156 are girls while 288,201 have been placed in county schools.

CS Machogu noted that sub-county schools have the highest number of Form One entrants at 792,230 out of which 423,171 are boys and 369,059 are girls.

Another 2,225 learners will go to Special Needs Schools.

"In the placement, all candidates who scored 400 marks and above were placed in either national or extra county schools of their choice. Similarly, all other candidates were placed in county or sub-county schools, according to the parameters set. Learners with special needs were placed either in regular or Special Needs schools based on their disability categories, merit and choice," Machogu said while announcing the selection at Lenana School, Nairobi.

How to access placement results

To establish the secondary schools children who sat for the 2023 KCPE have been selected, the Ministry of Education said parents and guardians can visit the ministry's website http://education.go.ke or http://kemis.education.go.ke, where candidates can view their results and download joining instructions.
