The burial date of the late Kisumu Boys High School Principal Peter Obuogo has been set for February 26.

However, according to the family's spokesperson John Egesa who is his brother, the date might be reviewed to a further date since one of the deceased child is in Class Eight and due to begin exams.

"We have not fully agreed and settled on the exact date but initially we had proposed February 26 which we are likely to move ahead," he said.

Egesa told K24 Digital that his brother succumbed to stroke and blood clot in the brain on Saturday morning at Agha Khan Hospital after being admitted on Tuesday.

He said that Obuogo got the attack while addressing over 20 principals at Kisumu Girls High School while launching one of his books.

On his side, Kisumu Boys High School board of management Charles Nyakiti, said Obwogo had served the school for four years after being transferred from St. Joseph's Kitale Boys.

"It is with deep sorrow that we have lost a great pillar. He was a great team leader and an academician who took matters of education seriously," he said.

Kisumu Governor Anyang'Nyong'o also described Obwogo, 60, as an outstanding teacher who has steered Kisumu Boys High School to greater heights in the national academic map.

He said he is remembered as a professional and a resourceful educationist.

He left behind three wives and six children.
