A middle-aged man who died at the Likoni channel after allegedly driving his vehicle right into the Indian Ocean at 4:20am Saturday has been pulled out of the sea.

The man’s body was removed from the vehicle at around 8:40am, with the Kenya Ferry management saying due to heavy activity on the channel, they would search for the vehicle later.

The deceased was the only person in the saloon car.

The Kenya Ferry Services says the man, who was heading to Mombasa Island from Kwale side, after purchasing his ticket, drove at a high speed straight to the ramp, ignoring calls by the ramp controllers to stop.

The ferry agency says at the time of the accident, there was no vessel on the ramp.

As at the time of going to press, police hadn’t moved his body to the morgue.
