East African Community CS Adan Mohammed has resigned from the government following the directive by the Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua, instructing State and Public officers angling for elective posts to vacate office on or before February 8, 2022.

Adan joins the growing list of State Officers who have tendered their resignations, which is also in line with the dictates of the Elections Act. The former CS will contest for the Mandera governor's seat. The ex-CS will have to battle it out with his former cabinet colleague, Hassan Noor Hassan, who has also resigned from his position as the Education CAS.
