8 counties to experience power interruptions on Wednesday

Kenya Power issued a notice informing Kenyans of power interruptions in select parts of the country on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.

The utility firm in a notice on its website said that the power interruption is necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrade power lines to the network.

"Notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules that the electricity supply will be interrupted as here under: (It is necessary to interrupt supply periodically to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines to the network; to connect new customers or to replace power lines during construction, etc.)," Kenya Power said.

The utility firm noted that the Wednesday, January 24, 2024, power interruptions will affect Machakos, Kajiado, Kisii, Migori, Homa Bay, Kirinyaga, Siaya and Nakuru counties.

Kenya Power said parts of Machakos County will be in blackout for eight long hours, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The areas affected by the planned power interruptions include; Koma Hill, Kantafu, Malaa, Kware, Ngalalya, Sunshine Mission of Hope, Joska Market, Mutalia, KBC Police Station, Mitatini, Mbiani, Katindangooni and adjacent customers.

Parts of Kajiado County will experience power interruptions from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The affected areas include; Isinya Town, Ramoda, Globsil, KEDA Ceramic, KMQ, Mile 46 and adjacent customers.

Parts of Kisii County will be without power on Wednesday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The areas affected include; Igonga, Nyagwekoa, Matongo, Nyabimwa, Nyamatwoni, Mogumo, Isamwera, St. Peters, Raganga, Kiaruta and adjacent customers.

Parts of Migori County will be in blackout from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The areas affected include; Migori Airstrip, KEFRI, Masaba, Nyamagagana, Ikerege, Nyametamburo, Isibania, Ihore Gokeharaka and adjacent customers.

Parts of Homa Bay County will experience power interruptions from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The that will be affected include; Ongeng Market, Ruga Secondary School, Nyangidha, Kobodo Market, Morogi Market and Complex, Kodumba, Ndhisi, Ruma, Kome, Ndhiwa Market, Gaena, Magina, Angiya, Okota, Obera, Sukari Industry, Riat Market, Ototo Secondary, Pala Koguta, Kaguria, Kamenya, Ojode Unga, Ojode Secondary School, Ligadho, Nguku, Bongu and adjacent customers.

Parts of Kirinyaga County will be in blackout from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm.

The areas affected include; Lainisha Sacco, Budget, Nib, Mrm, Wanguru DC, Wanguru Police, Wanguru Law Courts, Kiamanyeki, Gathigiriri Prison, Munyaka, Mithuthini, Githigiriri Market, Jerusalem Migingo and adjacent customers.

Parts of Siaya County will be without electricity from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

The affected areas include; Rabuor Market, Marenyo Health Center, Ahono, Sagam Hospital, Lihanda, Sinaga High School, Olengo, Gongo Health Center and adjacent customers.

Kenya Power said parts of Nakuru County will be in blackout from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The areas affected include; Mawanga, All Nation, Kiangai, Lanet Modern, Lanet Baraka, Murunyu, Anestor Precious, Kwa Amos, Heros, Bahati Boys, Kabatini, Karunga, Mailisaba, Besco Schools, Bahati Diaries, Cider Lodge, Ngomongo Saw Mills and adjacent customers.
