The vivo v23 5G smartphone

vivo launched the beautiful v23 5G into the Kenyan market. This is the company’s first 5G device to be launched in the market.

The v23 5G boasts of being powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 920 chipset, which we have not yet seen on most mainstream smartphones in the local market. Its closest competitor is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G chipset.

The MediaTek Dimensity 920 chipset on the vivo v23 5G is paired with Arm Mali-G68 GPU to handle your graphics, sorting you out gaming fans as well as movie lovers.  This comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage meaning you have plenty of space. There’s also support for extended RAM which lets you expand RAM up to 4GB by using some part of the storage to extend RAM virtually.

At the front, we have a 6.4-inch AMOLED with Full HD+ resolution (2400×1080 pixels) with a 90Hz refresh rate. The AMOLED panel on the device lets you enjoy some good color reproduction and of course smooth animations and transitions thanks to the 90Hz refresh. This is complemented even further by the display’s resolution as you can barely spot any pixels.

On the back, we have a 64-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, as well as a 2-megapixel macro camera on the back.  The dual front-facing camera is equipped with a 50-megapixel sensor and an ultra-wide 8-megapixel sensor with a viewing angle of 105°.

The camera is perfect for indoor shots. If you’re a content creator, you will love the 50MP selfie for both videos and photos. For videos, you can shoot 4K 30fps videos with the 50MP front camera. It can also do 1080p 60fps videos. These can come in handy for vertical videos for social media. They’ll be sharp and clear even when in artificial lighting e.g. indoors. There are also a number of camera modes to play around with including high resolution, panorama, slow-mo, and dual view which really like double exposure and pro among other modes.

For a phone that outputs such a high resolution, the battery has to be top-notch. I was surprised or rather pleased to have the battery last for almost a whole day of heavy work. This is all thanks to the 4200 mAh that you can also barely notice in terms of the phone’s thinness This comes with a 44W charger in the box that boasts 68% of charge (from 1%) in 30 minutes.

The v23 5G has been designed with a plain yet clean and elegant finish. vivo V23 5G comes in two color variants; sunshine gold and stardust black. The gold version is quite an interesting one as the variant features a color-changing glass rear panel that changes color when exposed to UV light and sunlight. These color options combined with the squared edges stand out on this phone.

You may however not be able to enjoy 5G yet considering Kenya has not yet gone commercial with 5G.  However, it really is a good device that showcases both beauty and performance. The device sells at sh 59,999 and it is available both online and offline.
