Confirming the update, the Kenya Red Cross said their team attended to ten occupants rescued earlier at the scene while one female was taken to the hospital.

"One female, who was rescued at the onset of the incident, was taken to the hospital by well-wishers. Ten others were treated at the scene by the Red Cross Action team. Currently, all tenants have been accounted for," Kenya Red Cross confirmed.

Uthiru building collapses

Last night, four people had been reported missing after the five-storey building collapsed.

According to Nairobi Disaster Management Chief Officer Bramwell Simiyu, the four included a nanny, two children from one household, and a 10-year-old girl from another residence.

"A five-story building has collapsed in Nairobi's Mountain View Ward, Westlands Sub County, along Naivasha Road, near the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI). Nairobi City County emergency response team was swiftly deployed to the scene and continued to assist in evacuating residents to safety. As of 10:00 pm, all the families except four persons have been accounted for," Simiyu stated.

"The four missing persons include a nanny and two children from one household, as well as a 10-year-old girl from another residence. The father of the girl has arrived at the scene and informed the responders that the girl was home alone."

"Detailed investigations will commence tomorrow," Simiyu added.
