CNN Journalist Larry Madowo has blasted former BBC journalist Jeremy Clarkson over his recent remarks stating that Kenya's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) is the stupidest in Africa.
Clarkson, while mentioning Madrid, Spain as his stupidest airport, asked his followers to give their opinion on the stupidest airport in the world.
Let’s have a group chat. What’s the stupidest airport in the world? I’ll go first. Madrid.— Jeremy Clarkson (@JeremyClarkson) May 6, 2024
To which a follower responded with Lagos Nigeria saying; "Lagos Nigeria, until you get stopped over 20 times between the door and your seat for no reason you can't have a true appreciation for how terrible an airport can be."
The TV presenter who worked as a BBC presenter on the world-famous 'Top Gear' then mentioned Nairobi as the stupidest airport in Africa sparking mixed reactions.
"OK. I'll take Lagos but if we are in Africa, I'll raise Nairobi," he said.

Larry responds
But in his response, Larry an ardent critic of the JKIA, watered down Clarkson's remarks stating that the airport was nowhere close to being the stupidest.
The journalist added that despite his constant complaints about the airport, it does not deserve the poor reputation being peddled by the presenter.
"I've been complaining about how bad JKIA is for 10+ years. But I don't agree that it's the "stupidest" airport in Africa. Not even close. To Jeremy's credit, he first complained about JKIA in 2017," Larry wrote.

Larry Madowo additionally noted that the controversial British journalist had been complaining about JKIA as far back as 2017.
"To Jeremy’s credit, he first complained about JKIA in 2017," Madowo added.
