King Kaka nearly died last year after doctors misdiagnosed his condition. The rapper confessed that medics gave him only 30 days to live after the misdiagnosis.

Fans were shocked after photos of the rapper looking gracefully thin surfaced online. He lost a staggering 33 kilograms during the months that he was sick.

The rapper came out in September 2021 after a long period of absence from showbiz to announce that he had been ill for three months.

In a post on social media, the ‘Wajinga Nyinyi’ singer asked his fans to always pray for good health.

He added that it has not been easy to be in and out of the hospital.

“Hospitali ceilings are really boring, always pray for good health,” King Kaka wrote.

He said he had been sick for more than three months after he was misdiagnosed.

“I was misdiagnosed. Lost 33kgs and in the process, we started hospital visits. Did all the tests and they were negative. Funny thing is I feel no pain and we are still hopeful we will get the solution soon,” King Kaka shared.

The rapper said that doctors managed to narrow down his condition to Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), sepsis and blood infection and he was given medication around that diagnosis.

“We did all sorts of tests still and almost settled on a condition called HLH and around sepsis and a blood infection that makes you lose appetite and all sorts of things.”

Death

Even though King Kaka fought hard to get better and to be reunited with his family, he admitted to having thought about death. He at times thought he would succumb to his ailment.

"As much as I am a fighter, there is a feeling that even if you try to fight, you can’t avoid it. I tried to do much to fight it, like the first two days I thought let me fight it but on that third day that I started hallucinating I think it was a mixture of so many things and death was among them,” he said.

In another post in January 2022, King Kaka confessed that doctors gave him 30 days to live.

"Xray showing niko na cavity kwa my 2 lungs bado. Walinipa 30 days niishi that was 4 months ago,” wrote King Kaka on January 28, 2022.

Nana got closer to God

Fast forward to October 17, 2022, King Kaka's wife Nana Owito took to social media to narrate how her husband's sickness really pushed him closer to God.

"I will be honest ever since King got sick and was healed, I had a spiritual awakening. It felt confusing. As a family, we were shaken right as it was happening and we had only one place to run to and that was to God! I can’t count the number of times I called my fave Passie,Pastor Njoro just to pray with me over the phone.

"The number of times I would just call him to say I didn’t have the strength no more and my husband was slipping away. The number of times he and his wife would rush home even at night to pray with us(God! My kids were confused 😕esp when they would see me cry 😢) May I never forget how badly I needed God’s touch 😭I still do. I’m not perfect in fact far from it but my relationship with God is always 💯. Also, I made a vow that my kids would know who God is. They would know Him as not only a healer but a restorer of life," she wrote.
