Azziad Nasenya shot to fame in 2020 thanks to her viral TikTok video dancing to the 'Utawezana' hit song by Femi One and Mejja.

Even though it was through the challenge that she became a celebrity, Azziad was savagely trolled by netizens on social media.

The media personality opened up about her bittersweet breakthrough in the entertainment industry while speaking during an interview with a local news outlet.

Azziad shared how she overcame wrongful judgments that followed her rise to fame during the 'Utawezana' challenge.

Some of the negative vibes spewed at her were incredibly ruthless, leaving her feeling overwhelmed and doubting her limit.

She questioned why the world sometimes tends to jump to conclusions without understanding the stories behind celebrities who rose to fame from nothing, adding that people wanted her dead as they weren’t happy with her success.

"Why is the world like that?" Azziad posed.

“Some people wished me death and all sorts of things. What they said to me was very devastating on my life but the good thing is that I didn’t tire to pray as I wanted more success and then I got the support to rise again,” she said.

Azziad reflected on her ordeal after landing a major acting role that is set to redefine her career.

The social media personality has joined a star-studded cast of a new drama series that is set to premiere on StarTimes soon.

The series dubbed 'Pink Ladies' is headlined by Azziad (Cecilia), Shix Kapienga (Trizah), Doreah Chege (Anne), Pascal Tokodi (Charlie) among other thespians.

Pink Ladies revolves around four single women who find themselves navigating the complexities of life, friendship, relationships, career and finances.

State job

The new acting gig comes months after Azziad Nasenya and other big celebs including Akothee, Churchill and others lost plum government appointments.

Youths Affairs, Sports and Arts Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ababu Namwamba in June 2023 revoked the appointment of Azziad and others from the Talanta Hela Council and Technical Committees.

The announcement was made by the CS through a gazette notice dated June 9, 2023.

"It is notified for general information of the public that the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports and the Arts has revoked Gazette Notice No. 1649 of 2023. Dated the 7th June 2023," the gazette notice reads in parts.

The move came barely weeks after the High Court suspended the implementation of the initiative where its appointees were to serve for a period of three years.

Even though she lost the plum government job, Azziad has been making major moves through brand endorsement and recently the acting gig.

Since her rise to fame, Azziad has ventured into acting, appearing in Kenyan television shows and films.

Azziad's rise to fame showcases the power of social media and how a single video can lead to widespread recognition and opportunities in the entertainment industry.
