Confusion rocked Komolo Rume secondary school in Awendo town in Migori county after the Board of Management and Parents association rejected the newly posted principal.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) posted Michael Getangita from Maeta Secondary school to replace Jackson Owino who has been acting for 8 months.

Owino was fished from Rapogi High School where he was serving as the Deputy and posted at Komolo Rume last year in May in an acting capacity.

This is after the former school principal was interdicted over alleged exam irregularity when the institution posted Y in its KCSE national exams.

Yesterday, the parents, community, and board members ganged up against the TSC plans to install a new principal at the school clinging on Owino to be confirmed as the principal.

In a heated board meeting chaired by the regional TSC director Stephen Anyanga, the board and the sponsor Anglican Church refused to accept the new principal Michael Gitangita.

Rumour had it that Gitangita was reportedly having troubles at Maeta secondary school in Kuria East Sub County.

The school was not performing well in national exams and their parents wanted him out. The TSC opted to post him to Komolo Rume, but apparently, he was also rejected in his presence.

The School’s Board Chair Pamela Ageyo and the former High school principal adamantly ganged up with parents and the sponsors –Anglican Church to deny him entry into the school.

Ageyo said the TSC had refused to act on their recommendation letter that the acting principal is promoted and retained in the school.

Yesterday, ACK Homabay Diocese Bishop Simon Onyango argued that Mr Owino must stay put for the stability of the school.

"This man from a national school has helped rebuild the school's image and is already helping to fix the problems at the school. Let him carry on," Onyango stated.

He warned TSC of causing chaos by overlooking the board in making a decision to post a new principal while there was one and doing well.

He told the press after the heated meeting that they had suspended the issue in the meantime as the Board and parents warned of a possible strike by students if they got wind of the changes.

Ajanga said the TSC will go back and consult again before they make any further resolution. He spoke as Onyango insisted that they will not allow the new principal to leave.

In the meantime, Owino will continue to act. The sponsor told TSC to put its house in order.
