Through his lawyer Majimbo Georgiadis, Itumbi asked Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi to order for the criminal proceedings to be typed.

"Your honour, we intend to challenge the criminal proceedings before the High Court and it has been a challenge to file the constitutional application without the typed proceedings," said Majimbo.

Itumbi who appeared in court for the first time since the abduction incident was still being aided to walk.

In response to the application for the typed proceedings, the prosecuting counsel Alice Mathangani indicated to the court that the process of typing the criminal proceedings has indeed taken too long due to high demand.

Shitubi has ordered Itumbi to write a letter to the Milimani Law Courts administration office asking for speedy typing of the proceedings.

Itumbi and his co-accused Samwel Gateri Wanjiru were in September 2021 found to have a case to answer in the fake Deputy President William Ruto assassination letter.

The two, who have been linked to the alleged assassination letter involving Ruto had been charged with publishing a false document contrary to the law.

It later emerged that the letter had been drafted at a Cyber Cafe in Lang’ata area, Nairobi, after police sought services of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).

The letter claimed that there had been an alleged meeting at Hotel La Mada on Thika Road with the DP as the main agenda.

According to the charge sheet, the two, on or before June 20, 2019, published a letter dated May 30, 2019, with the intent to cause anxiety to the general public.

The matter will be mentioned on March 10, 2022, for further orders.
