Nairobi county government renames Mbagathi Way to Raila Odinga Way

The Nairobi county government, in conjuction with the Nairobi Metropolitan Services, has on Friday November 5, 2021 renamed Mbagathi way, Raila Odinga Way.

The road signage bearing the name of the ODM leader Raila Odinga is believed to have been erected on the night of Thursday November 4.

The move comes after the Nairobi county assembly passed a motion approving the renaming of Mbagathi Way to Raila Odinga Way.

On Tuesday October 12, 2021 the county assembly passed a motion, sponsored by the Minority Chief Whip Peter Imwatok, on renaming of Mbagathi way to Raila Odinga Way.

According to the assembly, the honour of what Raila has done for the growth of the Kenya as a country, including his championing for good governance, democratic space and development of infrastructure.

Speaking with K24 Digital after the installation of the post, Minority Chief Whip Peter Imwatok expressed his joy and thanked the executive and the NMS for doing it with speed.

He stated that the official launch of the road will be held next week after the CASA events being held in Mombasa this week.

"Yes am happy to receive information that the NMS and entire county government of Nairobi is on this matter and according to the information there are preparing the ground for the official launch next week," Imwatok said.

A section of the MCAs promised to champion for the renaming of the nearby facilities around the road to Raila Amollo Odinga.
