A 58-year-old lady was on Tuesday arrested after officers in Huruma recovered 26 rounds of ammunition and Ksh298, 000 hidden in her house in Kiamaiko area, Nairobi.

The woman identified as Milka Akinyi Omamo is said to have hidden the ammunitions in a small aluminium box.

“Officers raided the said house within Kiamaiko and upon thorough search, they recovered 22 rounds of ammunition (9mm), 4 rounds of ammunition (.38 special), Ksh298, 000 hidden in a small Aluminium box, and a very big silver necklace,” the police stated.

Her arrest followed an intelligence report and a tip-off from undercover officers who noted that suspicious activities were taking place at her house.

Police suspect that the money may have been proceeds of crime owing to the fact that she was just a casual labourer.

Akinyi will be charged with the offence of possession of ammunition contrary to sections 4(1) and 4(2) (a) of the firearm act.
