A woman was on Friday, August 27, found dead inside a bus that had travelled from Eldoret town in Uasin Gishu County to Mombasa County.

The lady who has been identified as Salma Yusuf, 39, was found dead inside the bus at a terminus in Mombasa.

Passengers who had seated near her told K24 Digital that she had raised alarm saying that she was having headache.

However, most passengers did not take her seriously as they hoped that she will be fine with time, little did they know that she was to pass on.

“I spoke to her. She told me that she was working as a supermarket attendant in Qatar and she was planning to leave the country over the weekend,” said the passenger identified as Robert Kirui.

Neema Rajab who is a close relative to Yusuf said that the kin’s body was taken to Coast Provincial General Hospital morgue.

The burial of the lady took place on Friday, August 27, at Kikowani Muslim cemetery in Mombasa County as per the Islam customs.

“We were shocked to receive a phone call from attendants of the bus company telling us that she had died during the journey,” Rajab said.

Two months ago, another man who was travelling from Nairobi died near Kibwezi town.

Ben Chaglo who is the Kibwezi sub-county police boss said that the deceased had been asked by his fellow passengers to close the window but he was unresponsive.

It is then that they realised that the man had passed on.

“One of them moved to his seat to check why he was not responding to their request to have the window closed, only to realize the passenger was unresponsive,” Chaglo said.
