The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has issued a statement regarding the blackout experienced at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) despite the airport having backup generators.
In the statement, KAA attributed the power outage to a system failure on one of the generators which failed to start.
They, however, assured everyone that the issue had been sorted out and power had been restored in all affected areas.

On Friday night, passengers were left in darkness after a nationwide power outage which was witnessed across the country.
The power outage paralysed activities such as immigration and baggage handling at JKIA after the power went off from 9.45 PM.
The outage which persisted for nearly two hours had various effects across areas such as Nairobi, Rift Valley, Central, and Western Kenya.
Transport Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen apologised to all passengers affected and vowed to take action.
"I am really sorry for what has happened at JKIA with the blackout. There is no excuse worth reporting, and there is no reason why our airport is in darkness. I will be announcing the decision we will make tomorrow at 9 am at JKIA after a meeting with the leadership of the airport. Once again, I am sorry," he said in a statement.
