Wanted police officer who has been on the run for four years finally arrested

A police officer who has been on the run for the last four years was on Saturday, January 22, finally arrested by police officers in Kangundo, Machakos County.

In a police report seen by K24 Digital, Kenneth Ndombi Obonyo, 38, was arrested after members of the public raised concerns over what they described as ‘suspicious character.’

“Please be informed that today one Kenneth Ndombi Obonyo,38, was arrested while acting on a tip-off from members of the public who noted his suspicious character and alerted Kangundo police,” the report read in part.

The report revealed that detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) swiftly acted and managed to nab the suspect.

Obonyo was interrogated and it emerged that he was a wanted person who has been on the run for four years.

The police report revealed that he had two active warrants of arrest issued by the Ukwala Court for his two active criminal cases on April 4 and 5, 2018.

“The two warrants of arrest were issued before Principal Magistrates court at Ukwala,” the report read in part.

As he was being grilled, Obonyo further revealed that he was an officer on interdiction.

He was interdicted while working at Sigomere Police Station located in Ugunja Sub-County.

“The suspect has been searched and placed in cells pending collection by DCI Ugunja for further action,” the report further read.
