United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson has tested positive for coronavirus.

In a video posted on his official Twitter page on Friday afternoon (March 27), the premier confirmed he had developed mild symptoms over the last 24 hours and tested positive for coronavirus.

“Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus. I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus. Together we will beat this. #StayHomeSaveLives,” tweeted Boris Johnson.

The UK ranks number nine in COVID-19 infections in the world, behind USA, China, Italy, Spain, Germany, Iran, France and Switzerland.

The UK has registered 11, 658 infections, with 578 deaths and 135 recoveries.
