Uhuru makes 9 changes in Government, 8 PSs moved

President Uhuru Kenyatta has transferred several principal secretaries from their originally-held dockets to new ones.

Announcing the realignment on Friday, September 6, State House spokesperson, Kanze Dena, said the move will “enhance efficiency and service delivery”.

Major General (Rtd) Gordon Kihalangwa, who was the PS – State Department for Defence, has been moved to Public Works.

Another PS, Betty Maina, has been transferred from State Department for Industrialization to State Department for Environment and Forestry.

Francis Owino, who until the new changes were announced was the PS State Department for Public Service replaces Betty Maina at Industrialization docket.

Julius Korir has been taken from the State Department for Infrastructure to take up Owino’s former role at Public Service.

Prof. Fred Segor has been transferred from State Department for Irrigation to State Department for Wildlife Service.

Dr Ibrahim Mohamed has been moved from State Department for Environment to State Department for Defence, Kihalangwa’s former docket.

Paul Maringa has been taken from State Department for Public Works to State Department for Infrastructure.

Announcing the changes that touch on the PSs, the president also said he has merged State Department Crop Development with State Department for Agricultural Research to form the State Department for Crop Development and Agricultural Research.

Prof. Hamadi Boga, who was originally assigned to oversee the State Department of Agricultural Research takes charge of the new merged department.

Kihalangwa has been reshuffled for the second time in just over one month.

On July 24, he was moved from the State Department of Immigration & Citizens’ Services to State Department for Defence.
