Parents of students African Inland Church (AIC) Kipkeikei Girls' Secondary School in Cherangany constituency, Trans Nzoia County and residents living around the area woke up to the shocking news that the school's night guard had been murdered by robbers who raided the school's administration block.

The lifeless body of John Bittok,60, was found lying at the school's gate on Friday morning

Confirming the incident, area chief James Laina said the security guard was hit on the forehead with a blunt object.

Laina said the motive behind the heinous act has not been established and that investigations have been launched to establish the motive and the culprits.

"I condemn the act in the strongest possible terms and I want to ask our people to be calm and peaceful as we conduct investigations. For sure the family of the deceased will get justice" Laina said.

The area administrator reported that CCTV footage reveals that the culprits made away with two laptops, some computers and other electronic devices.

"Criminal Investigations officers are in the ground processing the scene to establish the motive of the culprits who are still at large. It is suspected that the killers terminated the guard's life because he might have known them" the chief added.

He also said that the disturbed students have been counselled and normalcy has been restored in the school.

"Initially, there was tension here but we have called religious leaders and counselling psychologists who have worked with our team in counselling our girls. Therefore there is no more tension" he said.

The area Member of Parliament Joshua Kutuny through his personal assistant Kevin Sugut called on security agencies to expedite investigations so that the culprits are brought to book.

"While we appreciate that our girls are all safe even after the culprits robbed the school's administration block, we want to ask DCI to carry out thorough investigations on this matter," Sugut appealed.

This comes barely two weeks after another night security guard at Sikulu Primary School in Saboti constituency was butchered inside a classroom.

On the same night, a security guard at Senator Wamalwa High school secondary was attacked and left with injuries. The school lost food items and property of unknown value.

The body of the murdered guard has been taken to Kitale County Referral Hospital morgue.
