Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi and his Kiharu counterpart Ndindi Nyoro on Sunday, March 10, 2024, donated a total of Ksh4 million towards the construction of a cathedral in Uasin Gishu County.

Sudi, who was the chief guest at AIC Fellowship Annex in Kesses, delivered Ksh3 million in cash during the fundraiser attended by high-ranking officials in both the local and national government.

Nyoro, also a guest, donated Ksh1 million towards the construction of the cathedral while area Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim, commonly known as Koti Moja, donated Ksh500,000.

Governors George Natembeya (Trans Nzoia), Stephen Sang (Nandi), Kenneth Lusaka (Bungoma), Wisley Rotich (Elgeyo Marakwet) and Simon Kachapin (West Pokot) gave Ksh100,000 each.

Area MP Julius Ruto also donated Ksh100,000 while Turkana Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai delivered Ksh200,000 towards the construction of the church.

Local ward representatives and county government officials also donated different amounts to the church.

The fundraiser coincided with the seventh anniversary of the church presided over by Bishop Lukas Maiyo.

During similar celebrations last week, President William Ruto made a generous donation of Ksh50 million to the Salvation Army Church.

Speaking during the Salvation Army Centenary Celebrations at Ulinzi Stadium in Nairobi on March 3, Ruto expressed his support for the organization's ongoing projects noting that he was aware of the church's needs.

"Maybe I should say that I have already read the letter in the envelope. Because I understand what they are coming to ask me I have already agreed to give 50 million shillings to support the work they are doing. All of the things they were to come and tell me, I already have the information," President Ruto said.

Last month, the Head of State also donated Ksh50 million to the African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa (AIPCA) for the construction of a church college.
