Steve Chege, a former Laikipia Senator aspirant has passed away.

Reports of his death were first shared on social media by Ndungu Nyoro (a renowned activist) a few hours after he appealed for blood donation.

He said, the aspiring senator had been involved in a road accident and was admitted to Kenyatta University hospital in a critical condition.

"Dear Steve Chege I have never met you. But I see your energy and passion on this platform. I celebrate all you do as a young Kenyan. Our country is better because of your voice. I have learned you are in hospital. I am sorry for the accident. I pray you to get out soon. This country needs you, Sir. Win my brother. Win," Nyoro wrote.

"Our brother urgently needs blood. Hon. Steve Chege Senator Laikipia County. is admitted at Kenyatta University Referral Hospital, and needs blood donations. All blood types are welcome to donate. Just a few hours after the post, he updated Steve's status noting that he had succumbed.

"Shocking news. Rest easy Steve. May God comfort your family and friends."
