Cabinet Secretary for Youth affairs, arts and Sports Ababu Namwamba has lauded the Kenya Kwanza government for the swift renovation of Moi Stadium in Embu County under a fixed timeline.

Namwamba while addressing the media on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, stated that the stadium hosting this year's Madaraka Day celebrations was renovated at a cost of Ksh476 million.

He noted that the project took at least 15 weeks and now becomes the first sporting facility to be completed by Ruto's government.

"In a swift 15 weeks, we have rebuilt Moi Stadium Embu, which I received from the contractor in time to host the 2023 Madaraka Day celebrations today. The speed, efficiency and value for money of this Ksh476 million project is the yardstick to judge our administration," Ababu tweeted.

Ababu says the refurbished stadium has five self-contained VIP lounges, including a presidential-level and deputy-presidential section.

The lounges are also fitted with state-of-the-art facilities that meet international levels for hosting government and sports events.

According to the CS, the stadium now has larger parking facilities and is fitted with a stadium lighting system.

The Sports CS says Moi Stadium now sets Kenya at the right stage in hosting international events, like football and athletics.
