Former Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has on Friday October 15, 2021 offered a group of youths that lynched self-confessed child serial killer Masten Wanjala, Ksh 200,000.

The controversial politician had placed a Ksh200,000 bounty for anyone who had details that could lead to the re-arrest of the suspected serial killer, who escaped from police custody on the day he was slated to appear in court.

Sonko has now offered to pay Wanjala's killers the amount he was offering for information that would have led to his arrest.

In a statement posted on his social media platforms, the former county head sought for the contacts of administrative officers of the location Wanjala was murdered, to help him pass his gift to the group of youths.

"Kumbe serial killer Masten Wanjala who brutally murdered 13 children in Nairobi has been lynched by a mob in Bungoma, Kabuchai. Since I had offered a reward of Ksh200k for the information leading to his arrest, I will now give the Ksh200k to the group of youth who did this good job.

"I'm not doing this as PR but sisi, Sonko Rescue Team, ndio tulisafirisha bodies of the murdered children to various destinations for burial and the tears and pain that the parents and familia walipitia ilikuwa kubwa sana na hawatasahau haraka. Nani anajua chief wa Kabuchai nataka kumtumia hio doo apatie maboys waliofanya job," he posted.
