Sharon Momanyi leaves KTN after 10 years

KTN news anchor and senior reporter Sharon Momanyi has left the station 10 years.

In a statement, Ms Momanyi said she was leaving with 'nothing' but gratitude to those who gave her the opportunity to work with the station.

She joined the media house on April 2, 2013, as an intern and has risen through the ranks to become a news anchor.

In 2018, Momanyi got promoted to the position of Features Editor at KTN, days after she won the Media Council of Kenya's Annual Journalism Excellence Award (AJEA) - Journalist of the Year, 2018 award.

"2nd April,2013:Young intern joins KTN newsroom with lofty ambitions of telling stories that change people’s lives. 2nd April 2023: Leaves with nothing but gratitude for the trust of those that have shared their stories with me & a platform to make a difference. What a decade!" she wrote on Twitter.

Before her exit, Momanyi also served as a features editor at the station.

The award-winning journalist describes herself as a communication consultant working with development organisations. She also has a focus on telling human interest stories, according to her LinkedIn bio.

"An award-winning journalist in Kenya, telling human-interest stories, with a special focus on sustainable development reportage. I am also a communications consultant working with a number of development organizations in designing messages aimed at informing masses and influencing policy for sustainable progress in specific sectors," she writes.

Ms Momamnyi got engaged to her fiancé in October 2022, during a birthday party for her son.
