Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has been called out by Kenyans on social media for allegedly lying that she assisted a chips vendor with money to boost her business.

The chips vendor, known as Bevalyn Kwamboka, is reportedly a student who runs an informal business of selling chips by the roadside in Nairobi's Donholm area.

Kwamboka called out the Senator claiming that she did not give her any cash as she had earlier mentioned on her social media platforms.

According to Kwamboka, Omanga visited her workplace and gifted her an umbrella and aprons, all branded the senator's name.

The nominated Senator then took photos with Kwamboka alongside three sacks of potatoes, a number of umbrellas and two aprons.

Omanga would go on to post the photos on her social media pages, stating that she had empowered Kwamboka by providing her with all she needed to run her business efficiently.

“Kwamboka is now sorted. Umbrella, cash and stock to boost her hustle. Mvua au jua haitamharibia biashara tena (Come rain or sunshine, she will not have to close her business). Now let's go eat those chips,” Omanga said.

Her actions would elicit different reactions from netizens, with some praising her for her kind actions, and others criticising her for not taking the opportunity and paying Kwamboka’s school fees.

However, netizens were left in wonder after Kwamboka gave contradicting statements on her social media handles, with the business lady noting that what Omanga shared was not true.

“For clarification, Millicent Omanga only bought potatoes worth Ksh350, came out of the vehicle with 5 umbrellas, took photos, returned them and gave out one and two aprons. Cash was not included, and she only bought potatoes worth Ksh350. The big sacks you all saw in the photo are mine, and I bought them with my own money when I started my day,” Kwamboka said.

Netizens would be left in shock as they went on to accuse Omanga of misusing the youths for her own political gains.
