Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday condoled with the family and friends of Migori ODM Chairperson Philip Makabong'o.
In a statement, Raila eulogised the deceased as a courageous and determined individual who was dedicated to serving in his position.
The former premier also assured the family of the deceased leader that the party would extend its support during the mourning period.
He also appealed to the county party leadership to stand with Makabong'o's family as they prepared to lay him to rest.
"The party leadership notes with deep appreciation, courage and determination with which Mr Makabong'o served ODM in Migori, sometimes against great odds. Mr Odinga assures the family of his friendship and support at this difficult time.
"He further appeals to the county party leadership to stand with and support the family as they prepare to lay Mr. Makabong'o to rest," Raila said.

Makabong'o's death was announced by the ODM party on Sunday, December 24, 2023.
At the time, the party did not disclose what led to his death, however, they conveyed their condolences and highlighted his contributions to the party.
It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Mr. Philip Makabong'o, the Chairman of ODM Migori County Coordinating Committee, and Secretary of CCCC. Phillip has been a great pillar of our Party not only in Migori but nationally. May his soul RIP," ODM announced.
