Kikuyu musician Irungu Wanjaro alias Wanjaro Junior has died.

Wanjaro committed suicide by jumping into River Sagana over failure to pay a kh700,000 debt.

The musician had left behind a suicide note telling his family that they will get his lifeless body in River Sagana.

His family said that his body was recovered on Saturday afternoon. “When I go missing, don’t waste a lot of time looking for me. My body will be in Sagana River,” the message he left behind read in part.

The musician was the only surviving child of Wanjaro family. One of the most popular songs sang by Irungu include; Wendo ni Mugeria.

They were initially four siblings. His car was found abandoned on River Sagana bridge and the body was retrieved from Masinga dam.

He left behind two kids and a wife. Notably, he is a brother to late Kikuyu Benga musician George Wanjara who died in 2007. Upon George's death, his wife Molline Atieno claimed that the extended family isolated and disinherited her.

On Saturday morning, the family of Wanjaro asked Kenyans to assist them to get the late.
