A police constable attached to Chepkono police post in West Pokot County was on Saturday, November 2, shot dead by his colleagues after he became violent shortly after killing his father.

Kelvin Otovolia Mang’ong’o fatally fired at his father, killing him on the spot on Saturday.

Mang’ong’o’s father had travelled from his home in Kakamega to visit the son who lives in Chepkono area, Pokot South Sub-County.

It remains unclear what led to Mang’ong’o murdering his parent.

The suspect’s colleagues who had gone to arrest him were greeted with hostility when Mang’ong’o tried to grab the firearm of one of them.

The resultant conflict led to the fatal shooting of Mang’ong’o, whose body was taken to a Pokot South hospital morgue.

More soon.
