Police arrest 4 men who ‘gang-raped’ girl, 16, after grabbing her as she answered call of nature

Police have arrested four young men from Nyamusi village, Bonyengwe 2 sub-location in Nyamira for allegedly gang-raping a 16-year-old girl.

The teen had allegedly accompanied her mother to an overnight meeting for the burial planning of a relative.

Police reports indicate that when she went to answer a call of nature outside the house at around 3 am on Friday morning, the four attacked and dragged her to the neighbouring Kabodo village, which is in Homa Bay County.

They took her into one of the suspect’s a house where they defiled her in turns.

Nyamira North sub County police commander, Partrick Ngeiywa, said that one of the defilers, Kelvin Ochieng’, 19, was arrested by community policing members and police officers while escorting the minor back.

“The two, Kelvin Ochieng’ and the minor were taken to Nyamusi police station and later in the course of the day escorted to Ekerenyo Sub County Hospital where the minor was examined and treated.

Kelvin was retained in police custody to assist the police trace the rest of the defilers,” Mr. Ngeiywa explained.

The officer further revealed that later in the evening police in Nyamusi arrested the other three culprits at Misambi village in the house of one Phelix Otieno.

They were identified as Joshua Otieno, Stephen Odiwuor and Isaiah Odongo.

Police also recovered six used condoms from the scene.
