Former US President Barack Obama penned a hearty message to celebrate his wife and former First Lady Michelle as she turned 60 on Wednesday, January 17.

In an Instagram post on Wednesday, January 17, Obama expressed admiration for Michelle, characterizing her as funny, wise, and beautiful.

"Happy birthday to my better half — who happens to be one of the funniest, smartest, most beautiful people I know. @MichelleObama, you make every day better. I can’t wait to see what this new decade brings you," Obama stated in the post.

Michelle, Obama wedding anniversary

The power couple recently celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary.

They both took to their social media accounts to share heartfelt messages and memories from their journey together.

The former President of the United States, Barack Obama, shared a series of touching photos on his Instagram account, accompanied by a heartfelt message.

"Happy anniversary, sweetheart! you're brilliant, kind, funny, and beautiful—and I'm lucky to call you mine," he wrote.

Michelle Obama reciprocated the sentiment with a message of her own, expressing her love and gratitude to her husband.

"31 years, and a lifetime to go. I love going through life with you by my side, Barack Obama. Happy anniversary, honey! ❤️" she shared.

The love story of Barrack and Michelle Obama began in 1989 when they first crossed paths in Chicago. At the time, Barack was a senior associate at Michelle's law office.

Three years later, on October 3, 1992, the couple exchanged vows in the very state where their love story began.

The two are parents to Malia and Sasha Obama.
