Delayed KCPE results

Meanwhile, for the better part of the day, tension and anxiety gripped parents and pupils across the country, after the Kenya National Examinations Council(KNEC) servers failed to return messages from anxious learners who waited to know how they had performed.

At the Kieni primary school in Mathira, Nyeri County, parents and pupils who had camped at the school had to wait until this evening to receive their results and continue to return to their mobile phones via the messaging service.

"We have had a terrible day, we were wondering whether our results had been cancelled. However, we are glad our results have started coming though not everyone has received theirs," a parent at the school said.

Wanjiku Kihagi a parent, spent the better part of the morning and afternoon sending her daughter's index number to KNEC only to get that discouraging text.

"I have sent 13 messages myself, my daughter has sent 11 and still no feedback," a visibly disappointed parent intimated.

This was the case in many parts of the country as the KNEC servers went down, immediately after the cabinet secretary for education Ezekiel Machogu released this year's KCPE results in the mid-morning.

"The cost to try and get the results has been implicating," another parent noted.

Julius Kamiri the board chairman at Kieni Primary in Mathira lamented over the delayed results saying that their children were in panic mode as they waited to know how they had performed.
