Property of unknown value was on Monday, July 11, 2022, destroyed by fire in two different cases of fire in Nairobi.
In the first incident, a fire believed to have been caused by a stove explosion burnt four aluminium houses in Soweto, Nazarene Kibera.
The fire was contained by members of the public and no life was lost or person injured.

“Police officers from Kibera rushed to the scene and found four Mabati houses belonging to Fridah Musire on Fire. Four Mabati rooms and property of unknown value were destroyed by the fire,” read the police report seen by K24 Digital.
Fire at Numero 5 Club
In the second incident, fire-ravaged property of unknown value at Numero five club along Muthangari drive in Lavington.
The fire was contained by a fire brigade from the Nairobi Metropolitan services (NMS), General Service Unit (GSU) and two private fire engines.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established.
“Officers on patrol reported that there was a fire at Numero five Club along Muthangari drive. Officers on duty rushed to the scene and found that property of unknown value was destroyed with the cause of the fire not being known,” stated the police report.
Nairobi county fire engines grounded
The two incidences happened as the fire engines of Nairobi County remain grounded due to a lack of insurance.
The cover expired last week and has exposed the county to the danger of fire disasters considering that at least two incidences are normally reported each day.
For the past one week, the brigades have not been responding to fire alarms due to a lack of insurance cover as they have a pending bill of Ksh15M that is yet to be paid to the APA insurance.
Nairobi governor Anne Kananu acknowledged the situation saying there has been a delay in funds from the National treasury.
