Nairobi county MCAs now want the county executive to set aside money to buy condoms lamenting that the male gender has been neglected.

The ward reps who spoke while appropriating the Ksh42.3 billion 2023/24 budget said the same way close to Ksh50 million had been set aside to procure sanitary pads, condoms should also have a significant amount set aside.

"Next time, when you allocate Ksh50 million for women’s pads, something should be set aside for condoms for men to take care of themselves."

"As leaders, we need to teach people how to be safe by availing money for the protective gear," Leader of Majority Peter Imwatok stated.

Emily Odour, the Finance Committee deputy chair, promised the concern raised would be considered when the next supplementary budget is tabled.

"Concerns by our male counterparts have been well captured and we want to assure them that we have just started. All their concerns will be addressed appropriately," she said.

Inside the budget, the ward reps have set aside close to Ksh1 billion money that will be allocated to the health sector.
