The main suspects in the murder of Daniel Muthiani alias Sniper today appeared before the Kiambu High Court.

The two, Vincent Murithi Kirimi alias Supuu O'mioro and Murangiri Kenneth Guantai (Mwangaza's brother) alias Tali who were being charged with murder appeared before Lady Justice Dorah Chepkwony where they pleaded not guilty.

The arraignment of the duo follows after their mental assessments which determined that they were both fit to stand trial.

"Vincent Murithi Kirimi Alias Supuu O'mioro and Murangiri Kenneth Guantai Alias Tali were charged with murder contrary to Section 203 as read with Section 204 of the Penal Code (Cap. 63) after the mental assessments determined that they were both fit to stand trial," a statement by the Office of The Director Of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) reads in parts.

"It is alleged that the accused persons, on diverse dates between 2nd December 2023 and 6th December 2023 at River Mutonga in Ciakariga Sub-County within Tharaka Nithi County, jointly with others not before court, murdered Daniel Muthiani Bernard Alias Sniper," the ODPP added.

The judge ordered that the two be remanded at Industrial Area Remand Prison pending filing a bail application by the defense.

Justice Chepkwony also directed the Probation and Aftercare Service to conduct a social inquiry and file a pre-bail report within 14 days.

The case will be mentioned on February 29, 2024.

Blogger Sniper disappeared on December 2, 2024, and his body was discovered on December 16, 2023.

According to a postmortem examination conducted by chief government pathologist Johansen Oduor, the blogger had been strangled to death.

The deceased also had marks on his neck and exhibited signs of a person who lacked oxygen. He also had fractured ribs and injuries on his head.
