Police in Uriri, Migori County have launched a manhunt for a 20-year-old alleged to have killed a 74-year-old grandmother on Friday, June 10, 2022.

The assailant who was only identified as Wangoi escaped to an unknown destination after he was accosted by the deceased's grandchild.

The kin, Dennis Ochieng, was headed to his house when he heard screams from the granny’s house only to find it closed from inside.

He forced himself inside only to find his grandmother lying on the ground with a deep cut on her stomach, left hand, neck, and left leg.

“Agnes Ouma Oloo was lying on the ground with deep cut wounds on the stomach, left hand, left neck, and left leg. assailant one Wangoi aged 20 was in the house armed with a knife. He managed to escape to an unknown destination,” the police report read.

The body was moved to Migori level IV hospital waiting for an autopsy.

Elsewhere in Rachuonyo South, Investigations have been launched by Police officers into the kidnapping of an independent MCA aspirant.

The victim Richard Omondi was on Friday kidnapped and left free with his kidnappers taking Ksh20,000 from him.

Omondi was kidnapped while driving his vehicle. No arrest has been made yet.

In May, an MCA aspirant from Ugunja Siaya County was abducted and found alive in Shimba Hills, Kwale County.

Politicians have been recently requested by the police to be informing them of their activities to ensure they are provided with security.
