Kayole: 4 arrested for beating suspected thief to death

Four Maasai in Mihang’o, Kayole were on Sunday, June 12, 2022, arrested for allegedly tying and beating up a man after they accused him of stealing construction wire.

A witness, identified as Francis Otieno who is a car wash attendant in Kayole, said that he was called by a private guard to the scene and informed that the deceased had been caught stealing.

“They had caught him stealing construction wire. Otieno proceeded to the carwash and found the four Maasai who had tied the deceased person. The deceased informed Otieno that he was tied and beaten by four Maasai,” read the Police report.

Kayole suspect died

The suspected thief identified as Lincoln Kinyua alias Mrefu succumbed to his injuries later. His lifeless body was found near Lacoste bar with blood oozing from the mouth.

His hand also had bleeding injuries with his legs tied with a sisal rope.

In another incident, police officers on patrol in the South B area of Nairobi arrested a 21-year-old with the help of the public after he snatched a phone.

The victim, Zainab Ali, was confronted by two persons on a motorbike who were believed to be armed. They robbed her of a Samsung phone worth Ksh31,000.

However, one of the suspects fell down from a motorbike as they were fleeing and the public got hold of him. The other suspect managed to run away.

Police arrested the phone snatcher and also detained the motorbike he used for the robbery.
